What the Cat Dragged In
What cat? Where? The mousery blog.About
Established in late 2007, What the Cat Dragged In Mousery (also known as WCD) is currently in the first phase of mousing.
We are studying the genetics of our current stock and only allowing individuals close to us to adopt our mice. In this way, we can still study their lives at a distance and the mice enjoy full lives.
Also, though we understand the condition and way they were raised at a local pet store, we are still making sure that their lines are free from all problems. (The pet store that we purchased the original stock from has their own mousery in the back and we know what they are fed and how they are culled and housed. They were from lab mice stock and stay in those conditions their entire lives.)
Our current ambition is to see how long our stock has in terms of lifespan. When we are done researching and are sure that our mice are fine, then we will start with phase two–in which we introduce mice from other well-documented mouseries to improve our lines.
We will soon be entering the final section of phase one, in which our mice will be bred out a minimum of three generations without any inbreeding or linebreeding. After that, we will be looking to adopt from other mouseries to raise the standards of our lines. Also, we hope to start showing some of the mice as well, to provide the best quality possible.
